Description

The course provides candidates, who have successfully completed MODA-201, with an understanding of their assigned country and mission, which will enable them to effectively advise the particular Partner Nation (PN) security forces. By the end of this course, students will have a working knowledge of the history, culture, demography, and religion of the PN as well as its relationships with regional actors and international institutions. Of equal importance, they will also gain an appreciation for key strategic and situational factors, and the U.S. mission, goals, and objectives

Objectives

Country Study Objectives include: Familiarity with basic language skills; the basics of culture and customs, basic history, demographics, geopolitics and the influence of religion in the PN. Comprehend the PN politics and governance, rule of law; and the different roles of ethnic minorities and women. Mission Study Objectives include: Understand the key policies and plans guiding U.S. and significant international missions; Understand the U.S. National Military Command Structure and how it interfaces with the Department of State and Inter-Agency; Understand funding for national security and PN budgeting processes; Gain an understanding of select PN systems (E.G. finance and human resources); and the structure and organization of key PN military and security ministries.

Target Attendees

All personnel who are designated to serve as ministerial or strategic level advisors in either a named military operation or as part of a Security Cooperation Mission in an Embassy setting.
