MODA-200

Title

MoDA Executive Advisor Short Course

SC Workforce Certification Level

Not Evaluated

Description

The goal of the course is to introduce students to the foundational concepts, techniques, and approaches for effective advising and capacity building in a US or multilateral missions. The course is currently delivered on request and prepares students to meet the learning objectives established by DSCU in cooperation with the requestor. Instructional topics are derived from core topics presented during advisor certification training (MoDA-201 and MoDA-202) as appropriate. This course can be delivered worldwide, by mobile training team, when essential MoDA instructors have the ability to travel to a facility identified by the requestor, should that prove the most efficient method of delivery.

Objectives

Although MoDA Advisor Short Courses address objectives and topics identified in conjunction with the requestor, the core focus is always on improving knowledge and understanding of core advising principles and methodologies, basic advisory skills, and associated topics. Once requests are analyzed the DSCU trainers create specially designed courses which are conducted in a seminar style, with 10-20 students per class. The goal is to create a participatory learning environment, using exercises to reinforce learning. Executive Courses also provide the opportunity to provide current information on policies, organizational structures, and topics of interest to senior people, often as part of their pre-deployment preparation. They serve a valuable function in helping people to “network” and begin to establish relationships with their teammates prior to deploying.

Target Attendees

All personnel working in Security Cooperation, with an emphasis on those engaging directly with partners for capacity building.
