On June 30, 2021, DSCU will deploy Cornerstone OnDemand (CSOD) for students of the School of Security Cooperation Studies. Our shift to the Cornerstone OnDemand (CSOD) represents a shift toward a seamless student experience.
Important Dates for Students:
- Prior to June 12, students will be able to register via the DSCU website and access Blackboard via their Blackboard ID and password.
- From June 12-30, there will be a blackout period where students will not be able to register for courses but will be able to access any courses previously registered for in Blackboard via their Blackboard ID and password.
- After June 30, students will access Cornerstone OnDemand (CSOD) using CSOD’s CAC-enabled login to search for and register for courses, immediately access online courses, and retrieve student completion records including certificates. CSOD also has an ID/Password capability for those students without a CAC.
- June 30: IMPORTANT!!! Students lose all course progress in Blackboard and must start incomplete courses from the beginning in Cornerstone.
Please see the CSOD Fact Sheet above for more information. We will continue to share important updates on this website throughout the CSOD rollout period.
Thank you for your attention to this matter and we are excited to be transitioning to this single interface for optimized student experience of the security cooperation learning environment.

Frequently Asked Questions
It is highly recommended that you read the following frequently asked questions before contacting us.
General
What is Blackboard?
Blackboard is an internet-based software portal and Learning Management System (LMS) that supports online learning.
DSCU uses Blackboard to deliver several online courses.
Which URL address should I use to enter Blackboard at DSCU?
Please use the Blackboard Login above.
Technical Requirements
Do I need any special software on my PC to run Blackboard?
No. Blackboard is accessible from any computer with a broadband connection to the internet and an approved operating system/internet browser (see below). Note that JavaScript
and cookies should be enabled in your browser. You may also need software on your PC
that is commonly used for files, such as Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Quick Time, and Adobe Acrobat Reader.
What are the approved operating systems/browsers for Blackboard version 9.1?
Please go to help.blackboard.com/Learn/Student/Getting_Started/Browser_Support for technical
requirements your computer must meet to use Blackboard.
Blackboard Access
How do I get to my courses in Blackboard?
Once you log into Blackboard, you will be able to access your courses from the "My Courses" box on the Home tab, or from the Course List box on the Courses tab.
Do
DSCU
courses require special access credentials and/or are they CAC-enabled?
Courses are delivered through the DSCU Blackboard Learning Management System (LMS) which is a password-protected site. User name and password
credentials are provided by DSCU via email when student applicants are approved to take a DSCU course. The DSCU Blackboard site is not a CAC-enabled site.
Can I access my courses from my home computer?
Yes. Go to dscu.blackboard.com and use your DSCU-supplied user name and password.
I previously used DSCU Blackboard, but I now want to take another course. Do I need to request a new account?
If you already have a DSCU Blackboard account, you are an “Existing User”; any new course you register for on the DSCU web site will automatically be added to your account and will
show up in the "My Courses" list in Blackboard. It is important that you register using the same email account, as your email address also acts as your login name. The password
provided in the welcome email for your new course will replace your existing password. If your email address has changed or you registered for the new course with a different
email address, the registration system establishes a new account for you in Blackboard and will not be associated with any of your previous courses.
I forgot my user name and/or password. How do I retrieve it?
Please contact us using the email address at the top of the page for assistance with user names, passwords, and other course access issues
Does my DSCU Blackboard account ever expire?
Yes. If you do not login at all for 90 days, your account is de-activated. Please contact the DSCU Online Learning Help Desk to re-activate your account.
How do I change my password?
You can change your password through the Tools section within Blackboard. The Tools section is on the left side of the Home page. To change
your password click on the following links. Personal Information > Edit Personal Information > Change Password.
Can I access a DSCU course on Blackboard again after I have completed it?
Yes. If for any reason you are unable to access the DSCU Blackboard website after completing a course, please us using the email address at the top of
the page. Any student account left dormant for 90 days must be re-activated by DSCU.
Why should I log out of Blackboard, instead of just closing the Blackboard window?
If you do not log out of Blackboard, and you are using a public computer, anyone who using the computer after you will have access to your Blackboard account, including
your grades, tests, and documents. Use the Logout button located in the upper right corner to log out of Blackboard.
Questions Related to Upcoming Migration to Cornerstone OnDemand (CSOD) Learning Management System
If I don’t complete a course on Blackboard by June 30th, what will happen?
If the course is not completed by June 30 all progress will be lost and the course will have to be started over from the beginning by registering through Cornerstone OnDemand (CSOD). Courses completed between 12 and 30 June will be delayed, as we will have to mark the completions manually.
Will I get two usernames and passwords, one for Blackboard and a different one for Cornerstone OnDemand (CSOD)?
No. You will have access to both Blackboard and CSOD with the same login. After successfully logging in at id.dau.edu, you will be able to choose either Blackboard or CSOD. For most personnel, they will login using their CAC/PIV. (They will also have a CSOD ID and Password). Non-CAC/PIV personnel will be able to log in using a CSOD ID/PW.
Do I HAVE to access Cornerstone OnDemand (CSOD) first and then click "Access Blackboard" to get into Blackboard?
No. While the “Access Blackboard” button inside CSOD is an option, there are two quicker ways to get to Blackboard:
- After successfully logging in at id.dau.edu, you will be taken to a page that has buttons for both Blackboard and CSOD. Clicking either will take you to the appropriate system.
- If you go directly to the DSCU Blackboard login page and click on the “Cornerstone OnDemand” button, you will be taken to the id.dau.edu authentication page, and then automatically be returned to Blackboard once authenticated.
Can I go directly to the Blackboard login page without logging into Cornerstone OnDemand (CSOD) first? Will the address to the Blackboard login page remain the same?
Yes. You can go to the DSCU Blackboard login page, click on the “CornerStone OnDemand” button, which will take you to the id.dau.edu authentication page, and then be automatically returned to Blackboard once authenticated.

Where can I find my grades in Blackboard?
There are two grade locations in Blackboard. From within a course, click on Student Tools > Check Grades. This will give you your grades for this course only. To check your grades for all courses, click on the My Grades button in the Tools
sections located on the Home page. If your grades are in neither of these locations, please contact your instructor to find out if he or she is posting grades within Blackboard.
