Reported to the Defense Security Cooperation University (DSCU), then the Defense Institute of Security
Assistance Management (DISAM) and subsequently the Defense Institute of Security Cooperation
Studies (DISCS), in 2009 as a US Navy Commander assigned as the Senior Military Instructor and as a
Deputy Director. Following retirement in 2012 he was hired as DISAM’s first Director of Online Learning.
He has also served as the DISCS Director of Academic Planning and Technology, DISCS Director of Staff,
DSCU Support Division Chief, and is currently as DSCU Senior Associate Dean of Administration.
Began with the federal government when commissioned as a Navy Officer in February 1986. During a 26
year career as a Surface Warfare Officer, served in six warships as Division Officer through Department
Head, and ultimately as Executive Officer (XO) of his last two ships. Served in various shore duty tours
during the career to include attending Naval Postgraduate School (NPS), Professional Military Education,
as an Emergency Action Officer in the Pacific Fleet Command Center, Chief Staff Officer of Afloat
Training Group Middle Pacific, XO of the NROTC unit and Associate Professor at the Ohio State
University and finally as an Assistant Professor and in various leadership roles as a military member and
civilian at DISAM / DISCS / DSCU.
Holds a Master of Science in Information Systems from the Naval Postgraduate School and a Bachelor of
Science in Quantitative Business Analysis from Indiana University. He is also a graduate of the U.S. Army
Command and General Staff College.
